Abstract

The lowland rice farming sector is used as a source of accelerated growth in the agricultural sector while at the same time solving the fundamental problem faced by Bontojai Village, Bontocani District, Bone Regency, namely the problem of poverty. This research aims to determine the policy strategy for lowland rice farming to reduce poverty in Bontojai Village, Bontocani District, Bone Regency. This research used 23 informants, consisting of 20 farmers and 3 people from the Food Crops, Horticulture, and Plantation Service. The analysis technique used is qualitative-descriptive analysis. The results of this research show that poverty among rice farmers is caused by low income or not matching the number of family dependents. The income earned by farmers ranges from IDR 3,000,000 to IDR 10,000,000 for each planting season. The policy strategy that can be implemented to reduce the poverty level of farmers is to create job opportunities and increase income. and rice farming policies, namely, land cleaning, application of technology, and pest control. The farming business strategy is to provide organic and inorganic fertilizer, apply technological innovation in rice cultivation, and provide superior varieties.
